OpenAI has officially unveiled GPT-6 Astra, its newest and most powerful AI model to date. The announcement, made on September 3, 2026, positions Astra as a major leap forward in artificial intelligence — one that OpenAI itself says could mark the beginning of the long-anticipated “AGI era.”

What Is GPT-6 Astra?

Astra is described by OpenAI as its most intelligent and aligned model yet, built to deliver state-of-the-art performance across computer use, coding, cybersecurity, and scientific research. Unlike earlier ChatGPT models that mainly handled text-based tasks, Astra is designed to interact with computers much like a human would — navigating spreadsheets, filling out forms, and moving across web pages at remarkable speed.
