On the 29th of July, Beyoncé released her new album Renaissance. As soon as the song amazed the listeners, some of the fans were also quick to spot an ableist slur in the lyrics for “HEATED”. It is the track composed alongside Drake, Cadenza, and many more.
Beyoncé is up to replace the ableist slur appearing in the lyrics for her Renaissance song “HEATED” just because she was receiving backlash over the song this weekend.
In the song Heated, co-authored with Canadian rapper Drake, Beyoncé used an offensive term for spastic diplegia, a form of cerebral palsy.
Beyoncé realized the same after Lizzo announced to update the lyrics to her “Grrrls” song receiving backlash for using the same ableist slur. A spokesperson for the musician assured us that she would remove the offensive term for disabled people used in the new song, Heated.

This afternoon, as per the reports, Beyoncé’s advertiser confirmed to remove that derogatory term from the song and said it wasn’t “used intentionally in a harmful way.”
Two months back, the US musician Lizzo was also called out for using the same term in the song Grrrls in June. After a swift repercussion, Lizzo apologized and changed the lyric, saying that she had never intended to “promote the derogatory language.”
When Lizzo got criticism for using the ableist slur in one of her songs and proclaimed the lyric update, she wrote on social, “This is the result of me listening and taking action. As an influential artist, I’m dedicated to being part of the change I’ve been waiting to see in the world.”
Beyoncé is yet to share an updated version of “HEATED”.
