Madonna Postpones “Celebration” Tour as She Battles Serious Bacterial Infection

Pop superstar Madonna has been hospitalized in intensive care due to a severe bacterial infection, leading to the postponement of her upcoming “Celebration” tour, according to her manager. The 64-year-old singer is currently receiving medical treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.

Madonna’s hospitalization followed the development of the infection over the weekend, prompting her stay in the intensive care unit, as confirmed by her manager, Guy Oseary, in an Instagram post. While her health is improving, Madonna remains under medical care, and her team is optimistic about her complete recovery.

The “Celebration” tour, initially scheduled to kick off on July 15 in Vancouver, was designed to encompass a seven-month span, showcasing songs from Madonna’s illustrious 40-year career. However, the start date of the tour has been postponed indefinitely due to her current health condition.

In January, Madonna announced her 12th tour through a black-and-white video, featuring her engaging in conversation and party games with notable friends, referencing her iconic songs like “S.E.X.” and “La Isla Bonita.” The anticipation for the tour was immense, with tickets for shows in New York, London, Paris, and Amsterdam selling out within minutes.

Produced by Live Nation, the “Celebration” tour was set to cover approximately 40 cities worldwide, concluding in Mexico City on January 30, 2024. Madonna had planned performances in major North American cities such as Detroit, Chicago, New York, Miami, and Los Angeles, as well as European destinations including London, Barcelona, Paris, and Stockholm.

Renowned New York comedian Caldwell Tidicue, known as Bob the Drag Queen, was scheduled to appear as a guest on all tour dates. The tour aimed to take fans on Madonna’s artistic journey spanning four decades, promising an unforgettable experience.

Madonna’s collaboration with the Weeknd and Playboi Carti on the single “Popular” marked her return to Billboard’s Hot 100 chart after a considerable hiatus.

Fans eagerly await further updates on Madonna’s health and the rescheduling of her highly anticipated “Celebration” tour.
