Shakira mesmerizes fans as she transforms into a captivating mermaid with vibrant pink locks in her latest music video, “Copa Vacía,” featuring Manuel Turizo. The enchanting duet delves into the desire for more in a relationship that feels devoid of fulfillment, while the cinematic visual portrays Turizo rescuing Shakira from a littered shoreline.
Co-directed by Shakira and her longtime collaborator Jaume de la Iguana, the video showcases the Colombian superstar’s immersive storytelling. With a reggaeton beat serving as the backdrop, Shakira’s verse echoes, “You’re always occupied with numerous commitments, drop your phone and engage with me. I know you’re attractive, but I’m irresistible. I’ve yearned for you for a while, without understanding why.”
The video made its premiere on MTV’s worldwide network of channels and illuminated the iconic Paramount billboard in Times Square.
“Copa Vacía” follows Shakira’s previous release, “Acróstico,” a heartfelt dedication to her children who also appear in the music video. Prior to that, the renowned artist achieved chart-topping success with two collaborative ventures. In January, her scorching “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” with Bizarrap secured her fifth top 10 hit and marked her first since the 2007 anthem “Beautiful Liar” featuring Beyoncé. Additionally, she contributed to Karol G’s groundbreaking project with the track “TQG.”
Shakira’s eagerly anticipated album is in the works, although an official release date has yet to be announced. Her last original album, “El Dorado,” arrived in 2017 and featured the smash hit “Chantaje” with Maluma.
