Oscar Winning Film ‘The Salesman’ Starred Iranian Actress, Taraneh Arrested!

Taraneh Alidoosti got arrested after she expressed cohesion with a man recently executed over protests in Iran. This iranian actress arrested on the charges of spreading falsehoods about nationwide protests that gripped the country, state media said on Saturday. She has been summoned by the judiciary body over publishing provoking content on her Instagram account.

Taraneh Alidoosti was starred in the 2016 Oscar-winning film, “The Salesman,”. The reason for her arrest is she criticized the hanging of Mohsen Shekari, sentenced this month in the first known execution linked to the protests. Shekari was reportedly sentenced to “waging war against God” for stabbing Basij paramilitary force member at a protest in Tehran. Shekari was sentenced on December 9 after being charged by an Iranian court with blocking a street in Tehran on September 23.

In her post, the 38-year-old actress said,” His name was Mohsen Shekari. Every international organization who is watching this bloodshed and not acting is a disgrace to humanity.”

Alidoosti made three posts on her Instagram account articulating her solidarity with protesters since the protests broke out in September. Her account with approx. eight million followers has been suspended.
