India never fails at showing its incredible talent and creativity. This has been proved this year at the Oscars 2023 when two of the most momentous awards came straightaway to the India this year.
S. S. Rajamouli’s much acclaimed RRR’s song ‘Naatu Naatu’ which was nominated for Best Original Song has bagged an Oscar.
The song ‘Naatu Naatu’ was nominated under Best Original Song category, along with several other proclaimed movies such as
- ‘Applause’ from Tell It Like A Woman,
- ‘This Is A Life’ from Everything Everywhere All At Once,
- ‘Hold My Hand’ from Top Gun: Maverick movie and
- ‘Lift Me Up’ from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,
However, the inventiveness of the creators, music director MM Keeravaani, Lyrics by Chandrabose and Singers Rahul SipliGunj and Kaala Bhairava did the best to grab that owner at the Oscars 95.
The next category in which Indians are very much happy todays to own the Oscars 2023 is the Best Documentary Short Film. ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ by Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga.
Other names nominated in this category are

- ‘The Martha Mitchell Effect’,
- ‘Stranger at the Gate’, and
- ‘How Do You Measure a Year’
But the subject line, acting and story of ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ pleases the jury at Oscars 2023 the most.
This is a 30-minutes short documentary film that focuses on the bond between an orphaned elephant Raghu and his caretakers – a couple Bomman and Bellie. Both dedicate their lives to protect Raghu from pilferers and take good care of him. The film is set in the Mudumalai National Park in Tamil Nadu and represents the Indian tradition of ecological conservation.
