Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 Unveiled: Made In India For The World

Harley-Davidson has revealed its most affordable cruiser yet. The Sprint 440 is a cruiser developed with Hero MotoCorp, unveiled ahead of its public debut at EICMA 2026. It is also built in India, and it is meant to travel well beyond India’s borders.

A Cruiser Cousin To The X440

The Sprint 440 builds on the foundation of the Harley-Davidson X440, the bike that made the Bar and Shield brand accessible to a new generation of Indian riders. It expands the 440 family that Harley-Davidson developed with Hero MotoCorp by adding a cruiser. The X440 was a roadster. The Sprint 440 moves toward the laid-back, classic Harley silhouette that many riders picture when they think of the brand.

Engine And Hardware

The Sprint 440 is expected to use the proven engine from its siblings. That is a 440cc, single-cylinder, air-oil cooled unit making 27 bhp and 38 Nm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. These numbers come from the X440, so final figures for the Sprint may differ slightly.

The chassis changes aim for a more relaxed cruiser feel. The suspension appears carried over, with the same 43mm KYB USD fork and twin rear shocks. A wider front fork angle and a different rear subframe should give a more relaxed riding posture. There is also a new exhaust, and the different end can suggests the Sprint 440 could sound different from the other 440s. The bike also gets a TFT display and classic cruiser styling.

Made In India, Sold To The World

The biggest story is where this bike is going. Hero MotoCorp builds the Sprint 440 in India, and it is reported to be the first model of the 440 family to be exported to international markets. That is a real milestone for Indian manufacturing, which is now producing a bike for a legendary American brand to sell globally.

Price And Availability

  • UK: The UK price is GBP 4,995.
  • USA: It reaches US dealerships in spring 2027.
  • Europe: An A2-licence-friendly version is planned for Europe in 2027.
  • India: The launch date and price are not confirmed. Some reports speculate a range of Rs 2.50 lakh to Rs 2.80 lakh, but treat that as an estimate until Harley or Hero says otherwise.

Why It Matters

Entry-level Harleys have long been a missing piece of the brand’s lineup. The Sprint 440 offers a real cruiser at a friendly price, built on a platform that has already earned a following. For younger and first-time riders, it could be the doorway into the Harley world. For India, it is a proud moment: a Made in India motorcycle carrying one of the most iconic badges in motorcycling to showrooms around the world.

Keep an eye out for official Indian pricing and launch details in the coming weeks.
