Kawasaki has quietly shown the new Z300 to its dealers, and the date to remember is 19th October, when bookings open.
I’ll be upfront: this segment is where things get interesting. Not everyone wants a 1000cc monster, and honestly, most of us shouldn’t be on one. A small naked bike that looks mean, weighs little and doesn’t scare you in traffic is a very good place to be. That’s the space the Z300 is aiming for.
First Impressions
The styling follows Kawasaki’s current Z look. It has a hunched, ready-to-pounce stance, a short tail and a tank that looks bigger than it probably is. Park it next to the larger Z bikes and it holds its own, which is the whole trick. Plenty of small bikes look like shrunken versions of something else. This one looks like it belongs to the family.
The riding position is upright and the bars are wide, so city riding should feel relaxed. If you’re stepping up from a 150 or 200cc bike, that matters more than any spec sheet number.
Who Is It For?
A few kinds of riders come to mind:
- Newer riders who want something with a bit of attitude but not a handful
- Daily commuters tired of boring-looking bikes
- Weekend riders who want a second, lighter machine
- Anyone who has always liked Kawasaki but couldn’t justify the bigger models

Booking It
Walk into your nearest authorised Kawasaki showroom on or after the 19th. Pick your colour, pay the booking amount and get your confirmation. While you’re there, ask about test rides and the delivery timeline. If you want one early, don’t wait a week to see how things go. Early bookings usually get served first.
My Take
Small Kawasakis have a reputation for being fun and tough, and the Z300 looks set to carry that on. Whether it’s the right pick depends on the final price and how it rides, and I’ll be waiting for a proper test ride before saying more. For now, if it’s on your shortlist, the 19th is the day to get to the showroom.
