Lenovo Adds Second-Gen ThinkPad X1 Fold To The Series- Here Is All You Need To Know About!

Lenovo’s ThinkPad range of products has a new folding member, the new 16-inch ThinkPad X1 Fold. This is the second-generation product following the original ThinkPad X1 Fold. The new ThinkPad Fold comes with 12th gen Intel mobile processors, Windows 11, advanced features, more screens and other changes. Here’s all you need to know about it.

The newest iteration is huge and more powerful. Lenovo revealed the addition to 2020’s ThinkPad X1 Fold at this year’s IFA conference in Berlin. The amazing new ThinkPad X1 Fold is a sweeping improvement over its predecessor. It got a mixed reception when it launched two years ago.

Like the Asus ZenBook 17Fold OLED (also declared available at IFA 2022), the ThinkPad X1 Fold appears as a 16inch tablet that can fold into half along a hinge that runs horizontally across the product. When folded in half, the OLED panel measures 12inch across the diagonal.

Lenovo has put in a Bluetooth keyboard that can connect magnetically to the lower half of the screen, concealing it from view and spinning the X1 Fold into a normal laptop.

The total resolution of 2,560 x 2,024 or the panel is rated for 600 nits peak brightness in HDR (400 nits in SDR) which supports Dolby Vision.

This innovation of the X1 Fold has slimmed down intensely: the bezels are outstandingly thinner. This device measures 8.6mm when open (down from 11.5cm).

It’s also packing powerful innards:

  • under the panel sits a 12th-gen Intel Core U9,
  • i5 or i7 processor alongside Intel Iris Xe graphics and
  • up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB of SSD storage.
  • two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports for video and data transmission
  • a third USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port for receiving power from the bundled 65W charger.

There is a fingerprint sensor in the bottom half of the screen with a volume rocker on the bottom edge and a Windows Hello-compatible webcam at the opposite end.

The battery is a 48Whr affair that can be amplified to 74W with certain arrangements. the X1 Fold supports nano SIM cards, in terms of networking/wireless connectivity, with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

It’s will arrive to sell at retailers in Q4 2022. The initial price start at $2,499 in the US.
