A New York City man, a robber has been charged with attempt to murder on Wednesday. He shot rapper Lil Tjay with multiple gunshots after an early morning shooting in New Jersey, leaving him with wounds. According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the authorities call a botched robbery attempt.
In addition to the attempted murder allegation, the release states that Mohamed Konate, 27, was also arrested on charges of armed robbery and weapons offences.
Authorities say Lil Tjay was shot several times shortly after midnight on June 22 at the Promenade. he is legally named Tione Jayden Merritt in mixed-use development in Edgewater, New Jersey. Two friends, identified by authorities, Jeffrey Valdez, and Antoine Boyd, were with Merritt at the time of the shooting.
Arriving at the scene, officers found Merritt with multiple gunshot wounds while his friend got a single gunshot wound.”
Both were taken to nearby hospital for a quick treatment. Officials did not release their conditions. However, as per the reports that Lil TJay has underwent emergency surgery.
Officials said the shooting took place after Mohamed Konate attempted to rob Lil TJay, Boyd and a third person, Jeffrey Valdez. Valdez and Boyd had an unlawful weapon on them at that time.
Lil Tjay is a Bronx-born rapper with an immense count of 7 million followers on social media. He got this tremendous fame on Soundcloud and was signed by Columbia Records in 2018. His debut album, “True 2 Myself”, peaked at No. 5 on the US Billboard 200.
