China is nowadays gripped by a severe new wave of Covid-19 mostly conquered by the Omicron variant. A surge of Covid-19 new variant infections in China in the past few weeks has driven warnings that the country could witness over a million deaths in the coming months.
This virus is spreading infections, and deaths are skyrocketing in the country since the time it eased restrictions and lifted zero Covid curbs. According to Epidemiologist & health economist Eric Feigl-Ding, the doubling rate of cases in China is not uniform days right now. The reason is infections are doubling in hours.
Eric Feigl-Ding – on Monday warned, “over 60 percent of China’s and 10 percent of the Earth’s population will likely be infected over the next 90 days’ and that the deaths will ‘likely be around millions”.
Meanwhile, the United States has specified that it will be ready to assist China with its surging Covid-19 outbreak. “We’re prepared to continue to support countries around the world, comprising China, on this and other COVID-related health support,” US State Department spokesperson Ned Price said while briefing in a daily press.
As for the recovery rate is hard to find out if the doubling is less than one day. It is also hard to do a PCR test with such a speed to meet the pace. The doctor further stated that the world, especially China is in deep trouble.
Fast-Transmitting COVID 19 New Variant
The dominant virus that strains in China is BF.7 which is a sub-variant of Omicron that has been in circulation for over a year now. There are over 500 Omicron sub-variants currently in circulation worldwide. Therefore, BF.7 is not unique to China. It has accounted for over 5% of the cases in the US in October and over 7% of the cases in the UK.
