Li Yonghao finally found his mother’s ashes this morning. And laid them to rest.
The urn, containing the remains of his late mother Shi Ming, had gone missing for some time. It was located with help from a group of people described only as kind-hearted members of the public their identities and the exact circumstances haven’t been made public.
The burial process wrapped up this morning. Li didn’t have much to say afterward, except this: he’s “speechless with gratitude” toward everyone who pitched in.
No further details have come out yet how the ashes were lost, who exactly helped, whether any funeral homes or officials were involved. For now, what’s known is just this: a family that had been searching finally has an answer, and a mother’s remains have found a resting place.
Cases like this aren’t unheard of. Urns going missing, families struggling to track down where cremated remains ended up it happens more than people realize, and it’s usually only reported once things get resolved. This one has, at least for the Li family.
