BTS K-Pop Band Members To Join South Korea’s Military Service- Resuming by 2025! 


As we all know that joining the Military service in South Korea is somewhat mandatory for all fit and healthy men between the ages of 18 and 28 in South Korea, with exceptions crafted only for athletes, dancers, and traditional musicians. Therefore, the upper age was overdue for BTS in 2020. However, this has been recently announced that all members of the BTS to join military and will serve the country.

“Members of K-pop band BTS are soon going to fulfil their requirement to do military service in South Korea,” according to their representatives.

The exemptions made for athletes, classical and traditional musicians and dancers are for a reason. They are the ones who have won top prizes in competitions and hence, ultimately enliven the prestige of the country.

Earlier, in 2020, South Korea’s parliament approved a bill allowing K-pop stars like BTS to delay the upper age bracket for national service, exceeding 30.

So, the oldest group member, Jin, aged 29, will be the first to join South Korea’s military service. Big Hit Music said he would withdraw his request to delay his recruitment until the end of the month and commence the required conscription steps the soonest. The other members also plan to serve in the military, confirming the company’s notice to financial regulators. This has been described as management-related information that is set to possibly affect the company’s investment decisions.

“All other members will also serve mandatory military duty according to their plans,” confirmed the management group HYBE.

“BigHit Music is proud to announce today that the members of BTS are currently moving forward with plans to fulfill their military service. After the phenomenal concert to support Busan’s bid for the World Expo 2030, and as everyone embarks on solo endeavours, it’s a perfect time and the members of BTS are honoured to serve,” read the official statement from Big Hit Music.


Jin, with full name Kim Seok-jin will be followed by J-hope, Suga, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook at a later stage.

No need to be depressed for BTS to join military. It has been predicted that both label and band are looking forward to resuming the group in 2025 after their service commitment.

The band members recently performed together in Busan the last weekend in support of the city’s EXPO bid. According to their label, this has now been considered their final concert as a group until they finish serving in the military.
